IslandPlay

Terms of Service

Version 2026-08-28, which is the date these terms took effect. They apply from the day you create an account.

1. Who you are contracting with

IslandPlay is a booking service operated from Trinidad and Tobago. In these terms "IslandPlay", "we" and "us" mean the operator of that service, and you can reach us at [email protected].

"You" means whoever is using IslandPlay. Sections 1 to 10 and 12 to 15 apply to everybody. Section 11 applies additionally to a venue, club, coach or other business selling through IslandPlay — called a business throughout.

2. What IslandPlay is

IslandPlay is booking software. A business lists what it has to sell — court time, a pitch, a class, a coaching session, a pass — and sets its own prices, opening hours and rules. You book it and pay through us.

The business provides what you booked, not us. We do not own, run, staff, inspect or supervise any venue. Whether the pitch is playable, the coach turns up, the equipment is safe and the session is what it was described to be are the business's responsibility. Your agreement for the session itself is with them.

We collect the money. Payment is taken by us, through our payment processor, and we pass the business's share on to them afterwards. That is why a refund comes from us rather than from the venue, and why your card statement shows us rather than the venue's name.

3. Your account

You need an account to book. It is one account across every business on IslandPlay — booking at a second venue does not mean signing up again.

You give an email address and a password, and you may add a phone number and a date of birth. You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. Keep your password to yourself; anything done through your account is treated as done by you until you tell us otherwise.

We do not send a verification email before you can use the account. We send a welcome email instead, which says plainly that if you did not create the account you should contact us. If you get one you were not expecting, please do — it means somebody has typed your address in, and we would rather hear about it.

You can delete your account at any time from the app. What deletion actually removes and what we have to keep is set out in the Privacy Policy.

4. Booking and paying

One price

The price shown when you pick a time is the price you pay. Our service fee is already inside it. Nothing is added at the payment step, and nothing is added by the card processor either — you will not meet a larger number at the last screen than the one you agreed to.

Prices are in Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TTD). There is a minimum amount we can charge through the card processor; a basket below it cannot be paid for online, and the app will say so rather than fail at the card page.

Your card

Card details are entered on our payment processor's own page and never on ours. We never see, hold or store your card number. If you choose to save a card for next time, what we keep is a token from the processor plus the brand and last four digits, which is enough to show you which card it is and not enough to charge it anywhere else.

When a booking is confirmed

A slot is held for you briefly while you pay. The booking is confirmed when the payment succeeds, and you get an email with the details. If the payment does not complete, the hold expires and the slot goes back on sale — being part-way through checkout does not reserve it.

Very occasionally a payment succeeds and the confirmation is lost between the processor and us. We look for those and resolve them by hand. If you have been charged and have no booking, contact us with the date and amount.

5. Cancelling and refunds

If you cancel

You may cancel a booking yourself in the app.

The 24-hour rule is the same at every business on IslandPlay. A business cannot lengthen or shorten it, and neither can we do so for one business and not another.

If the business cancels

If a business calls off your session — a flooded pitch, a double booking, anything else — you are refunded in full, whatever the clock says, including our service fee. You are never out of pocket for something the venue did.

If you do not turn up

A booking you do not attend and did not cancel is not refunded. The business keeps it. The slot was held and could not be sold to anybody else.

How a refund reaches you

Refunds go back to the card that paid. Our card processor has no way for us to send a refund automatically, so each one is sent by hand by a member of our staff. We aim to send every refund within two business days of it being issued, and your bank may take several days more to show it. If a refund has not appeared after a week, contact us.

6. Passes and memberships

Some businesses sell a pass. Read what it covers before you buy it, and note two things about how passes work here.

A pass is a period, not a number of visits.
It runs for a set number of days from purchase and covers what the business says it covers during that time. It expires at the end of the period whether or not you used it, and unused time does not carry over.
A refund is pro-rata on the days left.
If a pass is refunded, what comes back is worked out from the days remaining, not the days used. A pass that has already expired has no unused days and cannot be refunded.

A pass does not reserve anything by itself. You still book a slot, and a slot has to be available.

7. Programmes and coaching

A programme is a run of sessions with a fixed number of places. Enrolling buys the place. Some have age limits set by the business, which are checked against the date of birth on the account or on the child's record when you enrol.

A coaching session is booked with an individual coach at a venue. The coach's fee and the venue's court hire are separate amounts and are paid out separately, but you are shown and charged one price.

If a business calls off a programme or a session, section 5 applies: everybody affected is refunded in full.

8. Waivers and venue rules

Some businesses require you to accept a waiver before playing. That document is the business's, not ours. We show it to you, record that you accepted it and when, and pass it on — we are not a party to it and we do not decide what is in it. Any question about its terms is one for the business.

House rules — footwear, spectators, what you may bring — are also the business's. Follow them.

9. Children

A child does not have an IslandPlay account. An adult adds them to their own account as a dependant, giving a name and a date of birth and nothing else, and books on their behalf.

If you book for a child you are responsible for them: for the accuracy of their date of birth where a programme has an age limit, for accepting any waiver on their behalf, and for their supervision. Whether a business requires an adult to stay is the business's rule to set.

10. Conduct and suspension

Do not use IslandPlay to book slots you do not intend to use, to resell access, to abuse staff at a venue or through the app, or to interfere with the service or other people's accounts.

We can suspend or close an account for any of that, and a suspended account cannot sign in or book. If you have paid for something you have not yet had when we suspend you, we will refund it unless the reason for the suspension is that you obtained it fraudulently.

11. Terms for businesses

This section applies in addition to the rest if you list on IslandPlay.

What you are agreeing to do

Our fee, and how you get paid

We charge a service fee on each sale. There is nothing to join and no monthly charge. Your current rate, and whether it is taken out of your price or added on top of it, is shown in your portal under Money; we will tell you in writing before it changes.

Payouts run on a schedule and pay what has been earned — sessions that have happened and been marked. Money for a session that has not happened yet is held and shown to you separately, so what is coming is never confused with what is ready.

Payments are made to the bank account you give us, in Trinidad and Tobago dollars. Bank charges on the transfer, if any, are yours.

What a cancellation you make costs you

If you cancel a customer's booking, they are refunded in full — their price and our service fee both, whatever the 24-hour rule would otherwise say. That is section 5 and it is not negotiable.

The card processor's charge on the original payment is not returned to anybody when a payment is reversed, and it charges again to send the refund. Both of those come off your balance, because it was your cancellation that caused them. They are shown to you at the moment you cancel, listed under Cancellations by you in Revenue, and deducted from your next payout. If you have no payout pending they are recorded as owed and taken from the next one.

A customer cancelling costs you nothing of the sort: our service fee stays with us and covers it.

Chargebacks

If a customer disputes a payment with their bank, the amount and the bank's fee are taken back. Where the dispute is about the session — it did not happen, it was not as described — the amount comes off your balance. We will tell you and you can send us what you have to contest it.

Suspension and leaving

You can stop using IslandPlay at any time. Tell us, and we will suspend your listing and either honour the bookings already taken or cancel them with full refunds, whichever you choose. Suspending a business takes its booking page offline immediately, so nothing new can be sold while that runs.

We can suspend a business that will not honour bookings, misrepresents what it is selling, or does not pay what it owes. Money already earned is still paid out; money owed to us is still owed.

Nothing is deleted when a business leaves. Bookings, the ledger and the audit record stay, for the reasons given in the Privacy Policy.

12. Liability

We provide the software. We do not provide the sessions, and we are not responsible for what happens at a venue — injury, loss, damage, or a session that was not what you expected. Those are between you and the business, and any waiver you accepted is theirs.

We try to keep IslandPlay running and we do not promise it will never be unavailable. Where we are liable to you for something that is our doing, our liability is limited to the total amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your rights under Trinidad and Tobago consumer law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The version and date at the top of this page is what is current, and we record which version your account accepted. For a change that materially affects you we will give notice by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use IslandPlay after that is acceptance of the change.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Trinidad and Tobago, and the courts of Trinidad and Tobago have jurisdiction.

If your complaint is about a session — what happened at the venue, what was provided — raise it with the business first; they are the ones who can answer it. If it is about a payment, a refund or the app, raise it with us.

15. Contact

[email protected]

Email is the only way to reach us, and it is the way we reach you — IslandPlay sends no SMS and makes no calls. We answer within 30 days at the latest, and normally far sooner.
